LSE's Passfield Hall has won silver for its budget accommodation at the 2008 Visit London Awards.
Located in the heart of Bloomsbury, Passfield is the oldest LSE student residence but it has been newly refurbished to offer a unique mix of traditional architecture, excellent service and modern facilities.
Although the accommodation is primarily to provide safe, comfortable and affordable housing for students, rooms are let to the public in the holiday period under the banner 'LSE Vacations'. Passfield offers bed&breakfast accommodation during this period with rates from as low as £33 per night - and the profits help keep student rents affordable.
One recent guest commented saying:
'My friend and I just spent a week at Passfield Hall, and doubt if we could have found better single room accommodation in London for anywhere near this price.'
Katarina Selmoun (pictured right with the award), front of house manager for Passfield, was delighted they had been recognised in this year's awards:
'It is a huge honour to receive a Visit London Award. It is great recognition for all the Passfield Hall staff and their hard work over the past few years. In addition it is an excellent achievement for LSE residences and provides us with great deal of motivation. The award is displayed at reception now and we are all very proud of it,' she said.
Visit London's interim CEO Sally Chatterjee said: 'Tourism is one of London's most vital industries and these awards thank all those individuals and businesses for the outstanding contribution they make to the world's most amazing city. We had a phenomenal amount of entrants this year, so to win an award is a massive achievement.'
