Equity in Health and Health Care: lessons from an Asian comparative study

This year's Merck Foundation Lecture, hosted annually by LSE Health at the School, will be given by Professor Eddy van Doorslaer on Friday 16 March. Professor van Doorslaer will speak on Equity in Health and Health Care: lessons from an Asian comparative study.

Eddy van Doorslaer is a professor of health economics at the Department of Health Policy and Management of the Erasmus Medical Centre and at the School of Economics of the Erasmus, University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Professor van Doorslaer will address some of the lessons that were learned for the international comparison of equity in health and health care when attention was shifted from the high-income OECD countries to low or middle income Asian countries.

The lecture will be chaired by Professor Alistair McGuire, head of the Department of Social Policy at LSE.

Equity in Health and Health Care: lessons from an Asian comparative study will be on Friday 16 March 2007 at 6.30pm at the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, Aldwych, London WC2A. Admission is free, un-ticketed and the event is open to all.

A reception will follow the lecture at the Atrium, Old Building
