Social forums - success or failure?

Since the first World Social Forum in 2001 there has been an explosion of local, thematic, national and regional forums around the world. What have these gatherings achieved? Do they exert any real influence? And what does the future hold for the World Social Forum?

Ellie Cijvat, Dr Marlies Glasius and Rodrigo Nunes debate the issues in a public event at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Ellie Cijvat is at the Skane Social Forum. Dr Marlies Glasius is research fellow at LSE's Centre for the Study of Global Governance. Rodrigo Nunes is a member of the Caracol Intergalactika Network.

Social Forums: success or failure? is on Wednesday 18 January at 6.30pm in the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, Aldwych, London WC2A. This event is free and open to all with no ticket required.
