Dr Richard Mayne will give a public lecture at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) on Thursday 27 April. His lecture is titled L'Europe de Jean Monnet - Tomorrow's Europe?
Dr Richard Mayne was a personal assistant to both Jean Monnet, who is regarded by many as the architect of European Unity, and to the first president of the EEC Commission, Walter Hallstein. He was also the Commission's chief representative in London (1972-79) when Britain joined the EU. He translated Jean Monnet's memoirs into English.
This series is hosted by the European Institute at LSE and supported by LSE's Annual Fund.
L'Europe de Jean Monnet -Tomorrow's Europe? is on Thursday 27 April 2006 at 6.30pm in the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, Aldwych, London WC2A. This event is free and open to all with no ticket required.
