LSE Professor Chris Fuller will give a lecture on Thursday 2 November at the School comparing the Indian caste system to the racial dichotomy of the USA's Deep South.
Social hierarchy developed peculiarly extreme forms in both instances and this lecture will examine the significance of a comparison between the US and India for understanding the disappearance of hierarchy in contemporary society.
Chris Fuller is a professor in LSE's Department of Anthropology.
Caste, Race and the Disappearance of Hierarchy will be held on Thursday 2 November at 6.30pm in the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, Aldwych, London WC2A. This event is free and open to all with no ticket required.
