The collapse of the Soviet empire: reflections of an insider

Having served on the International Relations Department of the CPSU, Andrei Grachev became confidante and official spokesman for the last president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev. From this privileged position, he is able to provide genuine insight into the unexpected collapse of the Soviet Empire in 1991.

Andrei Grachev is chairman of the Scientific Committee of the World Political Forum and was assistant and official spokesman for the last president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev.

The Collapse of the Soviet Empire: reflections of an insider is on Thursday 9 October at 6.30pm in the Old Theatre, Old Building, LSE, Houghton Street, London WC2A. The event is free and open to all with no ticket required.
