US secretary of homeland security Tom Ridge speaks at LSE

Tom Ridge, US secretary of homeland security, gave a public lecture at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) today (Friday 14 January). 

Speaking to a full house of LSE staff and students, secretary Ridge spoke on Secure Borders, Open Doors: international cooperation in the 21st century before taking questions from the audience. He detailed the steps taken by America, as well as in other countries worldwide, to improve security in the aftermath of the September 11 tragedy, and emphasised that global cooperation and information sharing between countries is essential to combat terrorism effectively.
