LSE academic elected president of International Association for Media and Communication Research

Professor Robin Mansell|, Dixons Chair in New Media and the Internet at the Department of Media and Communications, LSE, has been elected president of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).

IAMCR is the largest international professional organisation in the field of media and communication research. Established in 1957, it has over 2300 members in some 70 countries. IAMCR aims to provide a forum where researchers, practitioners and policy makers in the communications field can meet and discuss their work (see www.iamcr.net) and to promote scholarly research in the field.

Professor Mansell took office in July and will serve for four years. As president, she looks forward to working with IAMCR members and with members of the Executive Board and International Council, to continue building the association, especially by strengthening the positions of new scholars, of women in the association, and through contributions with those from economically disadvantaged countries and regions.
