The Basque Country in a Globalising World

Juan Jose Ibarretxe, president of the Basque Country, will speak on the contribution of smaller countries and cultures in a globalised world in The Basque Country in a Globalising World on Wednesday 20 November at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

He will focus on the role of small countries in trying to create effective, coherent and inclusive communities, economic development policies and networking at European and global levels. Professors Derek R Diamond and John Gray will then respond with their view of national identities in a globalising world.

  • Derek R Diamond is emeritus professor of geography with special reference to urban and regional planning, LSE
  • John Gray is professor of European thought, Government, LSE.
