Management Accounting and E-business

Management Accounting and E-Business will be the theme of the 22nd annual Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) conference being held at LSE on Thursday 18 April. 

Keynote speakers are Professor Shyam Sunder and Professor Maurice Gosselin, and the focus of the conference sessions will be on the challenges and opportunities for organisations dealing with e-business.

Shyam Sunder, presenting a paper on 'Management Controls for E-Business', is the James L. Frank Professor of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at the Yale School of Management. He is the author of the prize-winning book Theory of Accounting and Control and is co-author of Experimental Methods: a primer for economists. He has published more than 100 articles in academic journals of accounting, economics, and finance.

Maurice Gosselin, presenting a paper on 'Management Control in the Context of E-Logistics', is a professor in the School of Accountancy at Université Laval, in Québec city, Canada. He is conducting research on several projects in the area of management accounting innovations.

Other sessions during the conference will cover topics such as:

  • Challenges and opportunities for management accounting and management accountants in an e-business context
  • Measuring e-business performance in European organisations
  • Investment in electronic commerce
  • The emergence of accounting information networks
