Economic Prospects for Central Asia

Jean Lemierre, president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will be speaking on Economic Prospects for Central Asia on Thursday 28 February at LSE.

The EBRD has vigorously supported the countries of Central Asia and has become one of the most important investors in the region. With the military conflict at their borders, these countries now face the most serious economic challenges since they gained independence a decade ago. Jean Lemierre will be reviewing the economic prospects of the countries of Central Asia and looking at the challenges they are facing.

Before joining the EBRD, Jean Lemierre was chairman of the European Economic and Financial Committee and director of France's Treasury.

The event is free and open to all. No ticket is required.
