Co-director of LSE Asia Research Centre receives Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award 2014

Kattumuri140pixelsDr Ruth Kattumuri, Co-Director of the LSE India Observatory and Asia Research Centre, has received the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award 2014 for outstanding service, contribution and achievements in the field of education.

The award, which commemorates Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India, recognises individuals for exceptional achievements in their respective fields.

Dr Kattumuri has more than two decades of experience in higher education in UK and India and has pioneered several innovative knowledge development programmes. Her research has focused on population and development issues including growth and inclusion; along with climate change policy.

Commenting on receiving the award, Dr Kattumuri said: "This award is an encouragement as I continue to beaver away on the public mission of being a Guru".

Dr Kattumuri was presented with the award at a ceremony held in Delhi on 25 January 2014.
