The centre runs an award providing support for PhD research at LSE on Middle East topics. This includes: encouraging LSE advanced students to complete PhD dissertations on the region; assisting LSE to recruit top-level students with the prospect of dissertation financial support; and increasing research by Arab nationals on Middle East topics.
These awards, based on need and merit, provide support for students who are in the final stages of their doctoral degree. Eligibility is restricted to students who will submit a thesis within the relevant academic year on any Middle East or Arab League member state and in any discipline.
The award is supported by the Emirates Foundation.
Please note that the Middle East Centre does not provide supervision for PhD students. Students interested in post-graduate study at LSE should contact the relevant disciplinary departments.
Applications for the 2015-2016 LSE Middle East Centre Emirates PhD Awards are now closed.
Information about the 2016-2017 round will be advertised in 2016.
