Visiting Fellow
Dr Karen E. Young is a senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington. She was research fellow at the LSE Middle East Centre from 2014-15, where she remains a visiting fellow. From 2009-14, she was assistant professor of political science at the American University of Sharjah (UAE). In 2013-14, she was an American Political Science Association MENA Fellow. She has held two Fulbright Fellowships, to Ecuador (1997-99) and Bulgaria (2005-06), as well as fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the International Research and Exchange Board, among others. She was the recipient of a grant from the US State Department Middle East Partnership Initiative in 2011–2012.
