Europe's Toolbox and Israel-Palestine Relations After the Kerry Effort: What Role for What Purpose?

As the deadline set by the US Administration for 29 April 2014 expired, the situation on the ground looks remarkably similar to what it has been in the recent past, with little sense that the parties are closer to an agreement. Europe thus finds itself in the position to have to decide its policy stance in the ‘post-Kerry’ environment. What are the options, and what is the contribution Europe can make? What are the choices behind which all EU member states can rally? Are the ‘pre-Kerry’ policy positions vis à vis Israel and vis à vis Palestine (and the Palestinians more generally) no longer valid, or even more valid? This conference aims to tackle these questions, with international experts from the US, Europe, Israel and Palestine sharing their views and opinions from the region.
