
During the course of 2015/16, a series of regional LSE Global Forums will be celebrating the achievements of the School and its alumni. Hosted by LSE Director, Professor Craig Calhoun, six LSE Global Forums will bring the School to your doorstep from the USA and UAE to Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore.
As part of the LSE Global Forum, the LSE Middle East Centre and The Abraaj Group are organising the second LSE Middle East Alumni Forum. This will present a great opportunity to learn about the latest developments on campus, meet leading LSE academics and discuss ground-breaking research as well as the issues that are shaping lives and societies on a global scale. Confirmed speakers include Professor Erik Berglof, Professor Toby Dodge and Dr Steffen Hertog.
LSE Director Professor Craig Calhoun will close the day with a keynote speech. The presentations will then be followed by a cocktail reception.

Speakers
Arif Naqvi| is the Founder and Group Chief Executive of The Abraaj Group which he established in 2002. He is also Founder Trustee and Chairman of the Aman Foundation, the largest private social sector enterprise in Pakistan. An LSE Alumnus, Mr Naqvi serves as chair of the Advisory Board of the LSE Middle East Centre.
Craig Calhoun| is Director of LSE. Before joining the School in September 2012, he was University Professor at New York University, Director of the Institute for Public Knowledge and President of the Social Science Research Council. Professor Calhoun is a world-renowned social scientist whose work connects sociology to culture, communication, politics, philosophy and economics.
Erik Berglof is the inaugural Director of the Institute of Global Affairs (IGA). Erik joined the School as a Professor in Practice in the Department of Economics. He has had a distinguished career as an economist, most recently as the Chief Economist and Special Adviser to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Toby Dodge| is Director of the LSE Middle East Centre, Kuwait Professor of International Relations, and Senior Consulting Fellow for the Middle East, International Institute for Strategic Studies, London. Professor Dodge's research concentrates on the evolution of the post colonial state in the international system. The main focus of this work is the state in the Middle East, specifically Iraq.
Steffen Hertog| is Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at LSE. Dr Hertog has been researching the comparative political economy of the Gulf and Middle East for more than a decade, working with a number of local and international institutions. In 2013, he edited Business politics in the Middle East published by Hurst.
