Welcome to the Department of Methodology

Please find below some information which you may find useful in your time before joining the School and during your first few days here.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week will be held from Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September 2016. During this time, events will take place in the School including lectures, tours, talks and  the LSE Students' Union Freshers Fair.

Please check the Welcome Week events page for further details of events taking place around the School. 

During Welcome Week you will also need to register for your course (please see below).

School Welcome Meeting

The School Welcome Meeting for MSc Social Research Methods students takes place on Tuesday 20 September, 10.30-12.00 in the Peacock Theatre. The presentation will fill you in on life at the School, registration, etc. Please note that the School Welcome Meeting is in addition to the Departmental Welcome event being held later in the week. 

Departmental Welcome Meeting

The Departmental Welcome Meeting for MSc Social Research Methods students will take place on Friday 23 September, from 3.00pm in NAB1.15 (New Academic Building). We will have a range of speakers from around the School who will offer useful advice and information. Speakers will include representatives from TLCLSE Library, Language Centre and LSE Careers. You will also have the opportunity to meet members of the Department.


Registration for MSc Social Research Methods students will take place in the Hong Kong Theatre (Clement House) on Wednesday 21 September, 9.00am - 10.00am. Please see Programme Registration for further details of what to expect at Registration and what you will need to bring with you in order to register.

If you think you may need to arrive late, please contact Esther Heyhoe (e.heyhoe@lse.ac.uk) with your anticipated date of arrival.

International Student Visa Advice Team (ISVAT)

ISVAT provides detailed advice for International students on their website which is updated whenever immigration rules change and at the drop-in service in Student Services Centre. ISVAT also run workshops for students offering advice on all aspects of the immigration process.
