• 53% of the general population in Austria use a smartphone. An average smartphone user uses nine different apps on a regular basis. Most popular are calendar apps (81%) and weather apps (80%), but also navigation apps (77%). Messaging apps have become increasingly important - 69% of smartphone users have installed at least one of them. They are most popular among the youngest target group (ages 14-29). They make use of these apps to differentiate themselves from their parents and other older internet users, who are increasingly represented in social networks.
