• The prospective teachers’ awareness and motivation was found to be at a high level while their digital empowerment was at a medium level.
• Regarding information literacy (defining the need for information, locating and accessing resources, initiating the search strategy, locating and accessing the resources and communicating information), teachers saw themselves as competent and had higher self-efficacy. However, while the teachers’ level for assessing and comprehending the information was moderate, interpreting, synthesizing and evaluating the information self-efficacy levels were weak.
