Political participation and identity of the younger Taiwanese generation on Facebook
Echoed with my concern about Taiwan’s young democracy, my research interest lies in political participation in a broad sense. I plan to study how Taiwanese youngsters consume and produce information on political issues on social media as well as how they form and develop the Taiwanese identity along the way. I am particularly interested in the creators and audiences of Facebook groups, which centre on political parodies and satires.

I studied English and Japanese for my BA degree. In the final year of my undergraduate study, I was an exchange student in Department of Communication at University of Jyväskylä. Between my first Master’s degree in Journalism at National Taiwan University (NTU) and the second one in Media and Communications at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), I worked as a research assistant with Dr. Chiu on health communication in the Department of Bio-Industry Communication and Development, NTU. During this period of time, I witnessed and participated in the Sunflower Movement of 2014 and the Anti-black-box Curriculum Movement of 2015. Since then, I have been interested in studying political participation and identity.
