Charlie Beckett has written a report (access here) on a recent Polis seminar which looked at the results from the collaboration between The Guardian, AMREF and Barclay's on the Katine Development Project.
The report argues that the Project raises some serious issues about the role of NGOs and the media in Development. Charlie Beckett says that the brutal answer to the question of whether journalism can DO development is "no but it's worth trying."
For AMREF, the report states, the Project has been "a gamble that has not entirely paid off." He believes that NGOs are just not open enough to real accountability through the media.
