Dr Claire Meehan is an early career researcher and Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Auckland. Hailing from Belfast, she completed her PhD (focussed on young people’s drug use experiences and the internet) at the University of Ulster in 2013. Her current work encompasses a co-constructed, harm reduction-focussed approach to young people’s digital sexual lives. Within this, Dr Meehan is primarily concerned with understandings of consent, gender, media representation and education provision. She has also been leading three empirical studies in New Zealand that will include manuscripts on pornography, consent and education.
During her time at LSE Dr Meehan will be working with Prof Sonia Livingstone
