Charlie Beckett, Polis Director

Charlie Beckett is the director of Polis. He has 20 years of experience with LWT, BBC and ITN's Channel 4 News. He broadcasts and writes regularly on media and political affairs and is the author of SuperMedia: Saving Journalism So It Can Save The World (Blackwell, 2008) and more recently, 'WikiLeaks: News In The Networked Era' (Polity, 2012). He teaches at the LSE. He is also a trustee for The Media Society, Article 19 and the International Development Institute.

Julia Ziemer, Polis Executive Manager

Julia is the assistant to Polis Director Charlie Beckett. Her role involves the overall coordination of Polis, the recruitment and management of Polis interns, event planning, and fundraising. Julia has worked previously at English PEN as Events and Development Manager, Charles Dickens Museum and the British Council.

Richard Kirsch, Graduate Intern

Richard is the Graduate Intern for the Department of Media and Communications, working frequently with Polis as well as the Media Policy Project and the department in general. He completed a MSc at LSE last year in Political Science and Political Economy, and has a background in finance and technology.
