On Thursday 7th June, the Mathematics Department held a fun Green Impact and Sustainability event, which also show-cased some very tasty organic and/or local food.

The drop-in session attracted colleagues from across the department, including guest teachers and PhD students. They heard from the department's Green Impact team (Dave, Tugkan and Jackie) about the Green Impact project and how the department was progressing on that, as well as taking the opportunity for a 'green myth'-busting Q&A.
A variety of tasty organic produce was available to sample, including English cheeses, some English buffalo milk fudge, and a variety of tempting cakes and chocolates, all washed down with some cold, filtered tap water, served from a jug into the department's new glasses. There were also shown some of the Fairtrade tea and sugar regularly purchased by the department, and the green cleaning products we use.
There were also some wide-ranging discussions about energy-saving measures, lighting, heating, recycling, and food miles.
In all, 19 people were able to attend - a good turnout in a bank holiday-laden half-term week.
