CEMS is a global alliance of leading business schools|, multinational companies| and NGOs| that together offer the CEMS Master’s in International Management (MIM)| degree programme

The LSE is the only UK member school in the CEMS alliance, and we are very proud that our Master’s in Management is the only programme in the UK to offer the CEMS MIM.

Our students who choose to join CEMS will gain a dual degree qualification, graduating from both our LSE Master’s in Management degree programme, and from the CEMS MIM degree programme.

Students who opt to join CEMS will be choosing a specialisation in international general management in year 2 of the LSE Master’s in Management programme.

About the CEMS MIM

The CEMS MIM is a pre-experience postgraduate degree open to high-calibre, internationally minded, multilingual students enrolled in a Master's in Management programme at one of the 29 CEMS member schools|. CEMS promotes global citizenship, with a particular emphasis on these values:

  • The pursuit of excellence with high standards of performance and ethical conduct
  • Understanding and drawing upon cultural diversity with respect and empathy
  • Professional responsibility and accountability in relation to society as a whole

The curriculum is designed and delivered in collaboration with the CEMS corporate and social partners, making learning on the programme extremely relevant in terms of real-world international business practice, and CEMS graduates are very highly sought after by employers.

The CEMS community 

In addition to the cutting-edge international learning experience, we believe that one of the most valuable aspects of the CEMS MIM is the global network of people which our students become a part of, made up of the business schools, companies, students and alumni who participate in CEMS.

CEMS is special because it has a genuine ethos of community at its heart, and since it was established in 1988 it has grown to become more than simply an academic international exchange programme. Our students who join the CEMS MIM benefit from a lifelong connection with the CEMS community, both professionally in terms of unique access to job opportunities and connections with employers, and also as part of a very active, warm and supportive social group of like-minded people across the world.

Entry requirements and selection process

Students must submit an application to join the CEMS MIM programme in January of their first year in the LSE Master’s in Management programme.

The CEMS MIM is designed specifically as an international, cross-cultural programme, and therefore there is a specific langue requirement for entry to the programme. All students must be proficient in at least three languages at the time of their entry to the programme (this can include a student’s native language):

  • English
  • A CEMS language (i.e. a language spoken in countries of the CEMS member schools, or a selection of other languages from countries with large business communities)
  • Any third language

To apply to join the CEMS MIM, students must submit evidence that they meet the language requirement, and also a letter of motivation describing their reasons for wanting to join CEMS.

Successful applicants will then be invited to a panel interview, to assess the following competencies and aptitudes, before being offered a place to join the CEMS MIM programme:

  • Personal effectiveness
  • Ability to work effectively with other people
  • Ability to work with people from other cultures
  • Adaptability to other cultures
  • Motivation to undertake the CEMS MiM programme
