Zeynep Kaparoglu

PhD student in Information Systems and Innovation

Biography

Zeynep is currently a PhD student in the Information Systems and Innovation in the LSE Department of Management. She holds an MSc in Information Systems (ADMIS) from LSE and a BSc in MIS from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to joining LSE she worked as a business analyst for two years in payment systems unit of an IT affiliate of a major bank in Turkey. 

She was awarded an LSE PhD Scholarship for her PhD, and the Jean Monnet Scholarship for her Master's. Her Master’s thesis, supervised by Prof Crisanthi Avgerou, was a critical discourse analysis of the information society strategy of Turkey. She was awarded grade of Distinction for taught Master's and for her thesis.

Zeynep’s research concentrates on social music discovery platforms and the way in which these platforms are getting involved in the changing forms of music consumption to understand how these online services might be attending to formation of music tastes in novel ways. For this study, she is conducting a case study with an Istanbul based start-up concentrating on music discovery.
