Dr. Christian Busch

Biography

Dr. Busch's research focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, social impact, and social networks, and he teaches several postgraduate and Executive MBA courses at the LSE. He works with multinational companies, social enterprises, and start-ups on sustainable business model innovation, and is a co-founder of Leaders on Purpose. He was co-founder of Sandbox Network (now: Thousand Network), the leading community of young innovators, where he developed the hub-based structure and expanded the organization and community into 20 countries. Dr. Busch previously worked in business in China, Kenya, South Africa, Mexico, Russia, Germany, and the US, and has served as Impact Advisor at the National Entrepreneurs Association, on Ashoka's Selection Panel, on the Jury of the African Entrepreneurship Award. In 2016, he was nominated as member of the World Economic Forum’s 'Expert Forum'.

Dr. Busch has lectured at ESADE, Peking University, and Strathmore Business School (Kenya), and his work has been published by journals such as IJEV & featured by The Guardian, WIRED, Academy of Management Journal, among others. In 2016, he (together with Harry Barkema) received the 'Best Paper Award' (Entrepreneurship) of Emerald Publishing/AFAM, and the 'Best Social Entrepreneurship Paper Award' of the Academy of Management. He has received grants and scholarships from WOTRO, the LSE, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Haniel, and other funding bodies. His presentations and workshops at companies such as Dell and Danone have reached over 1.2 million people, and his speaker profile can be found here

Dr. Busch has been named as one of The Economist's ‘Ideas People’, Diplomatic Courier’s ‘Top 99 Influencers’, JCI’s ‘Ten Outstanding Young People’, a TEDster, a 'Key Influencer'​ (Siemens), a Global Fellow of the Institute for the World Economy, one of the 'Davos 50', and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). He frequently speaks at conferences including the World Economic Forum (WEF), Financial Times Summit, Academy of Management Conference, and TED, and his ideas have been featured by outlets such as Harvard Business Review and the UN.
