What's your current job?

Global Head of Performance and Reward, Rio Tinto

Where have you worked previously?

Includes ICI, GSK, IBM, Reckitt Benckiser, and HSBC. A really enjoyable, challenging, international career that has taken me to all parts of the world, and offered the chance to meet a fantastically diverse set of friends and colleagues.

What was your favourite building on campus?

Has to be Connaught House for that lung bursting climb to the top floor on the many occasions I was late and the lifts were out of order.

How has the programme helped your career since you graduated?

It had a profound impact on my job prospects. Having won the student prize, I had employers chasing me for my first HR job, which was unheard of during the recession-hit 80s.

What has been your greatest achievement since you graduated?

That’s tough – but I guess it was being appointed Vice President of Reward for the CIPD and getting the chance to speak for the HR profession at a national and international level.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever heard?

Treat all your colleagues as you would like to be treated yourself.
