Alumni panel debate and networking reception

On 23 May 2012, the Department welcomed over 150 alumni back to the New Academic Building for a special event to celebrate our first five years as the LSE Department of Management.

The welcome address was from Professor Gwyn Bevan, Head of Department, who spoke about the Department’s recent history and some interesting current research and teaching initiatives, but also reflected on the long history of business and management at the School, giving a special welcome to John Seekings, who completed his Diploma in Business Administration in 1953.

The panel, looking at the topic of ‘Managing Organisational Change, was chaired by Professor Jacqueline Coyle-Shapiro, Head of Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour Group and herself an alumna (Diploma in Business Studies 1988, PhD 1996).

The panel comprised: Paul Dinkin (MSc Public Management and Governance 2009), strategy consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Vincent Hotyat (MSc Industrial Relations and Personnel Management 2000), former president, Euromillions; Elisabeth Stheeman (Diploma in Business Studies 1988), COO - Investment Banking (Natural Resources and Real Estate), Morgan Stanley and Nick Troen (MSc Management, Organisations and Governance 2009), co-founder and director, Poncho 8.

Alumni from across the Department and the generations were also joined by current and former staff members and current students, with the networking reception continued into the night.
