Support our fundraising efforts

As we celebrate ten years since the establishment of the Department of Management, we have launched a fundraising campaign to ensure that the brightest minds, irrespective of financial circumstances, are able to study at LSE by offering full or partial scholarship awards.

Find out what difference your donation can make - read Rohan's story.

Rohan Krishniah graduated in 2010 after completing the MSc in Management, and is now AVP in the Credit Restructuring Advisory Group for Barclays. He benefited from receiving a scholarship which helped him realise his potential at the LSE. Read his inspiring story.

What did the scholarship enable you to do?

The scholarship has assisted me tremendously and I will always be grateful to its donors (Markit) and the LSE. During the program – the scholarship allowed me to focus on my course and enjoy the several amazing facets of LSE life. I had time to take part in extracurricular activities, make great friends and explore different career opportunities without worrying too much about finances. I was able to go on exchange to Paris with the CEMS program and expand my personal and professional network while experiencing a different culture and country.

In what ways did the scholarship support you in achieving your professional/personal ambitions?

The immediate way a scholarship helps you after graduation is that it leaves you with little or no student debt at the start of your career. This gives you immense flexibility and freedom to make the right professional choices. You are definitely in a better place than if you were indebted towards anyone. Also it is much easier to start saving and working towards achieving other financial goals.

Why do you think it is important to provide scholarships?

Personally having received a scholarship, I feel I have a responsibility to make a difference whenever I can. When donors contribute towards a scholarship, not only are they being generous and kind; they are also fostering goodwill in society by granting opportunities to students they do not know but trust will do well in the future. It is an exciting prospect that even a little support may have a grand unforeseen positive impact as the next big talent or leader could be just one scholarship away.

If you are inspired by Rohan’s story, please donate to the LSE Annual Fund so we can support more students achieve their ambitions in the future.

On an annual basis gifts from alumni and friends help to provide financial support to students, many of whom would otherwise be unable to accept their offer of a place or continue their education at the School. By donating to the LSE Annual Fund, you will be supporting their future by enabling strong and capable students to enrol on one of the department’s Masters programmes.

A postgraduate qualification can set students apart from other graduates in the job market and allow them to join a vibrant community of like-minded people. Students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds are less likely to progress into postgraduate study due to the associated financial burden. When added to the debts they incurred as undergraduates – the cost of a further year’s tuition fees, living expenses and course materials can deter less well-off graduates from further study.

However these are the very people who stand to gain the most from continuining their education. Your gift will provide access to a world class education and enable them to overcome barriers to achieve their ambitions and we are determined to help as many as possible to succeed.

If you wish to make a donation to support our efforts via the annual fund, you can do so online. Please remember to select “Academic Department” and then “Management”.

Every donation, however small, will make a difference. Thank you very much on behalf of all in the Department of Management.
