Hughes Parry Hall

NOTE: Canterbury, Commonwealth and Hughes Parry Halls are scheduled to close for refurbishment during the two academic years 2014/15 and 2015/16. They will re-open in September 2016.

No other University of London halls are affected.

The hall, named after Professor Sir David Hughes Parry, was opened in 1969. It provides accommodation on 14 floors for 301 male and female students in 291 single and 5 twin study bedrooms. It is designed primarily for undergraduates, though some postgraduates are also offered places.


Hughes Parry Hall is situated in Cartwright Gardens within easy walking distance of LSE.

Contract length

Residents at Hughes Parry Hall have a 40-week contract covering Christmas and Easter vacations.
