How to get to Passfield

The hall is situated one mile from the LSE, just south of Euston station, in a quiet area, just a 20 minute walk from School.

The information below should help you get here regardless of where you're coming from or how you are travelling.

From Heathrow

By rail and tube

London Underground (the Tube) connects Heathrow directly with central London. This is the cheapest convenient way to travel as long as you don't have too much luggage. 
For Passfield, take the Piccadilly line to Russell Square.

A possibly faster but certainly more expensive option is the Heathrow Express. This  runs every 15 minutes to and from Paddington Station in central London. The journey takes about 15 minutes. From Paddington take the Tube, Circle or Hammersmith and City Line, to King's Cross and then either change for the Piccadilly Line to Russell Square (approx 5 minutes) or hop in a black cab (taxi).

By bus

National Express| run bus services between the terminals and central London. Most go to Victoria from where you can catch the Victoria line, Eastbound to Green Park tube station and change onto the Piccadilly line for Russell Square station.

From Gatwick

By rail

The Gatwick Express| runs trains every 15 minutes to and from London Victoria. The journey takes about 30 minutes, from where you can catch the Victoria line Eastbound to Green Park tube station and change onto the Piccadilly line for Russell Square station. First Capital Connect| also runs train services from the City, Bedford and Brighton to Gatwick, 4 trains run every hour. All trains come into the South Terminal, but there is a free Inter Terminal Transit train every 3 minutes (journey time 2 minutes).  

By bus

Gatwick Airport is well connected by National Express| coach services to the rest of the UK. The Airbus A5 runs to Victoria from the South Terminal.

From Victoria

You can take the Piccadilly line, Westbound from Russell Square tube station and change onto the Victoria line at Green Park station. Once there please follow the signs for the Gatwick Express train. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Gatwick Airport. Tickets can be purchased on board the train or before boarding at slightly lower prices.

From Paddington

You can take the Piccadilly line from Russell Square and change at King's Cross St. Pancras onto the Circle or Hammersmith & City lines to go directly to Paddington Station. Once there please follow the signs for the Heathrow Express train. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Heathrow Airport. Tickets can be purchased on board the train or before boarding at slightly lower prices.

From Waterloo

From the Waterloo Station there are many buses, 59, 68 and 168, direct to the Woburn Place side of Tavistock Square.

From King's Cross

It is a 10 minute walk direct to the Hall or a 5 minute Black Cab (Taxi) ride away.

From Liverpool Street

You can take the Central line from Liverpool Street station to Holborn where you need to change onto the Piccadilly line, to Russell Square station. There are numerous train services at Liverpool Street Station e.g. trains to East Anglia.

By Taxi

If you've too much luggage to carry easily on and off trains or buses then you might consider a taxi from wherever you are. We recommend using a black cab|. For Passfield ask for 'Endsleigh Place, Near Tavistock Square'.

 

We recommend using a route planner such as AA route planner|,  RAC route planner|Green Flag route planner| or any other.

 

From all locations enter 'Tavistock Square, Bloomsbury' as your destination. Passfield Hall is located on Endsleigh Place which is next to Tavistock Square.

 

Walking

Estimate time of 20 minutes

To the School

  • Walk left out of Passfield, this brings you on to Endsleigh Place.
  • Walk directly through Tavistock Square, coming out on Woburn Place near to the British Medical Association Building.
  • Walk south down Woburn Place past the Royal National Hotel. After crossing Guilford Street, Woburn Place becomes Southampton Row.
  • Continue down Southampton Row, proceeding past The Bonnington Hotel and eventually the Grange Holborn Hotel. Then after crossing Theobolds Road continue down Southampton Row passing Central St Martins College of Art and Design on the left.
  • Continue to the end of Southampton Row, cross the main road, called High Holborn, onto Kingsway where you will pass Holborn Tube Station on your left.
  • Walk past Holborn Tube Sta tion down Kingsway until you reach Portugal Street on the right, turn into Portugal Street, walk Past the Peacock Theatre and turn left onto Clare Market.
  • Turn right from Clare Market and this brings you onto Houghton Street.

Home

  • From Houghton Street, walk towards the St Clements building and turn left.
  • Turn left into Portugal Street, proceed past the Peacock Theatre and turn right onto Kingsway.
  • Continue walking to the top of Kingsway where Holborn Underground Station is located. Walk past the station and cross the main road called High Holborn onto Southampton Row.
  • Continue up Southampton Row, crossing Theobalds Road after passing Central St Martins College of Art and Design on the right. Proceed past the Grange Holborn Hotel and eventually The Bonnington Hotel.
  • After crossing Guilford Street, Southampton Row becomes Woburn Place. Carry on walking on the road called Woburn Place, past the Royal National Hotel.
  • Still walking on Woburn Place, cross over the road past Tavistock Square and take the road immediately on the left, opposite the British Medical Association.
  • Proceed down this road next to Tavistock Square, cross Endsleigh Street and continue into Endsleigh Place. The entrance to Passfield Hall is on your right.

Bus

Estimate time of 5 to 10 minutes.

Take either the 59, 68, 168, and 91 from the Woburn Place to the Houghton Street Bus Stop. The Bus stop to Return is on the other side of the Aldwych.

Tube

Estimate time of 20 minutes

 

Holds no benefit when travelling to and from the School. It is probably quicker and easier to walk.
