By rail and tube
London Underground (the Tube) connects Heathrow directly with central London. This is the cheapest convenient way to travel as long as you don't have too much luggage.
For High Holborn, take the Piccadilly line directly to Holborn.
A possibly faster but certainly more expensive option is the Heathrow Express. This runs every 15 minutes to and from Paddington Station in central London. The journey takes about 15 minutes. From Paddington take the Tube, Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus and change to Central line for Holborn.
National Express run bus services between the terminals and central London. Most go to Victoria. Unless you arrive after the last tube we wouldn't recommend this service for High Holborn.
We'd recommend First Capital Connect which runs train services to Bedford via the City (which stop at Kings Cross). From here, take the Piccadilly line southbound to Holborn. Otherwise, you could use the Gatwick Express which runs trains every 15 minutes to Victoria. The journey takes about 30 minutes. All trains come into the South Terminal, but there is a free Inter Terminal Transit train every 3 minutes (journey time 2 minutes).
Gatwick Airport is well connected by National Express coach services to the rest of the UK. The Airbus A5 runs to Victoria from the South Terminal.
Use the Tube, Victoria line to Green Park station and then north on the Piccadilly line to Holborn.
London Underground, Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus and then east on the Central line to Holborn.
Take the Northern line, northbound to Tottenham Court Road and then the Central Line east to Holborn.
From Kings Cross or Euston
Take the Piccadilly Line southbound to Holborn.
From Liverpool Street
Take the Tube, Central line to Holborn.
If you've too much luggage to carry easily on and off trains or buses then you might consider a taxi from wherever you are. We recommend using a black cab. For Holborn ask for 'High Holborn, between the Oasis Sport Centre and the Travelodge at the top of Drury Lane'.
We recommend using a route planner such as AA route planner, RAC route planner, Green Flag route planner or any other.
