For Carr-Saunders take the Piccaddilly line to Hammersmith and change to the Hammersmith and City line eastbound to Great Portland Street (approx 1 hour 15 minutes).
A faster but more expensive option is the Heathrow Express. This runs every 15 minutes to Paddington Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. From Paddington take the Tube to Great Portland Street, on the Circle or Hammersmith and City line.
National Express run bus services between the terminals and central London. Most go to Victoria from where you can catch the Victoria line to Warren Street. The trip to Victoria can take up to 1 hour 15 minutes and the another 10 minutes by tube.
We'd recommend the Gatwick Express service which runs trains every 15 minutes to Victoria. Alternatively, use the First Capital Connect service to London Bridge. All trains leave from the South Terminal, but there is a free inter-terminal transit.
Gatwick Airport is well connected by National Express coach services to the rest of the UK. Speedlink links Gatwick and Heathrow. The Airbus A5 runs to Victoria. from the South Terminal. A transit train runs between the 2 terminals.
