Lutfey Siddiqi CFA

Managing Director, Barclays Capital Asia-Pacific

MSc Economics 1998

Upon completion of my master's in Economics on a full LSE Scholarship, I joined the Global Markets division of Deutsche Bank where I went on to become a Director and Head of FX Structuring based in London. In 2002, I joined the Foreign Exchange management team at Barclays Capital – initially as Global Head of Structuring and subsequently as the founding Head of Corporate Risk Advisory, Asia-Pacific. Concurrently, I am a part-time lecturer on the MSc Financial Engineering programme at the National University of Singapore.

I remain engaged in fundraising and awareness programmes related to my country of origin – Bangladesh. Recently, I conceptualised and hosted a seminar entitled 'Developing a Development Mindset' at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore which was inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Professor Mohammed Yunus.

LSE marks the apex of my educational journey that had previously taken me through the United World College of the Atlantic, Wales and the University of York, England. I have no doubt that the LSE brand was instrumental in getting me my first job, despite the backdrop of the Asian economic crisis at the time. Furthermore, the spirit of diversity and inter-cultural understanding that LSE represents has enhanced my effectiveness in my professional and leadership roles.
