Professor Paul Willman

I have been Professor of Management at LSE for two years; prior to that I held chairs at Oxford and the London Business School. I am head of the Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour Group within the Department of Management, and programme director of the new two year MSc in Management. The pregramme provides broad general management training and is aimed at graduates with little ot no work experience but with strong academic backgrounds in any field, with demonstrated quantitative ability. It is also appropriate for those seeking to enter or change careers to management consulting, banking or industry.

All our programmes study management from social science perspective. Students here tap into 'the LSE experience' to gain a global political understanding, and benefit from a new approach to management education that appeals to top talent and answers the changing recruitment needs of major global companies. This is a very exciting period for the Department, with significant growth in the number of students coming to the School, and also the opening of our new state of the art accommodation in the New Academic Building.

My research falls into two discrete areas. I have published extensively in the labour relations field, both on the structure and conduct of labour unions and on governance mechanisms for employment contracts. The second strand of work is on the sociology of financial markets where my particular interest is in the role and conduct of traders in investment banks.
