Locating Archives Outside LSE

This page contains a list of online resources which can help you locate archive material outside LSE.

National Register of Archives| - for locating the papers of individuals and organisations (mainly UK). It links to ARCHON|, which provides contact details for archive repositories in the UK (and some elsewhere).

The National Archives| (TNA) - catalogue of the papers of UK government departments. The TNA website includes helpful resource guides on a wide number of topics.

AIM25| - collection descriptions of the archives held by universities and other institutions located in the London area.

Archives Hub| - collection descriptions of archives held by UK universities and other institutions. It also has a useful guide for those inexperienced in using archives|.

Access to Archives| (A2A) - a selection of detailed archive catalogues held by various repositories across England including local record offices. The database is not being updated and its contents are selective, but it is useful to search across the holdings of many organisations.

Archives Wales| - information about Welsh archives.

Scottish Archive Network| (SCAN) - information about Scottish archives.

ArchiveGrid| - catalogues from across the world, especially from United States repositories.
