LSE Library resources

  • LSE Library has a special collection of materials from key and intergovernmental organisations. These include publications, statistics and reports.
  • European Union - LSE library is a European Union Documentation Centre and has legislation, COM Documents, Statistics and the official journal.
  • United Nations - The Library is also a UN documentation centre. This includes UNICEF and UNIFEM documents which deal directly with gender issues.
  • Other key collections which contain information about the roles and position of men and women include materials from the OECD, World Bank and International Labour Organization.

  • Genderstats
    Free access to statistics relating to Gender from the World Bank - topics covered include demographics, education, health and political participation. United Nations Statistics on Men and Women website - in 6 fields of population, families, health, education, work and decision making.
  • United Nations Commission for Europe
    Statistics database has a section on men and women in Europe.
  • Social Institutions and Gender Index 
    Measure of gender discrimination in 102 non-OECD nations. Covers civil liberties, family and ownership rights.
  • Gender and Land Rights Database
    Free access to information from the FAO
  • IPU (Interparliamentary Union ) has a Women in politics website which has comparative data relating to women's political representation worldwide.
