Mecklenburgh Square was home to activists, experimenters and revolutionaries; among them were the modernist poet H. D., detective novelist Dorothy L. Sayers, classicist Jane Harrison, economic historian Eileen Power, and writer and publisher Virginia Woolf. In this talk Wade will highlight the life of LSE academic Eileen Power.

Co-hosted with Feminist Book Fortnight (@FeministBkFt20). Books will be available to buy from the publisher on the night.

Francesca Wade is now Associate Editor of The White Review. Her writing has appeared in the London Review of Books, Times Literary Supplement, Telegraph, Financial Times, New Statesman, Prospect and Literary Review. She won the 2015 Biographers’ Club Tony Lothian Prize for her new book Square Haunting.

The British Library of Political and Economic Science (@LSELibrary) was founded in 1896, a year after the London School of Economics and Political Science. It has been based in the Lionel Robbins Building since 1978 and houses many world class collections, including The Women's Library.
