We are delighted to host this roundtable discussion inspired by the life and legacy of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar; a brilliant scholar of social justice and LSE alumnus who championed Dalit rights and chaired the drafting committee of the first Indian Constitution.
Nilanjan Sarkar (LSE) and Jayaraj Sundaresan (LSE) are joined by Rohit De (Yale University), Shailaja D Paik (University of Cincinnati), and Suraj Yengde (Harvard Kennedy School) to discuss caste, constitution and gender in the light of Ambedkar’s life and work.
This event is a collaboration between the LSE South Asia Centre, LSE Library, and the Decolonising LSE Collective, and marks the launch of a new online exhibition which explores Ambedkar’s time at LSE.
