The Library collection mirrors the main areas of research and interest for the School. While there is material relating to all countries on the Latin American continent some countries are covered more widely than others. The map on the right shows the level of coverage of the different countries. The darker blue signifyiing a greater number of resources relating to that country. Brazil, Argentina and Mexico are the major areas of colleciton of the Library and also research in the School.
The Library catalogue details both printed material and electronic books held by the Library. Enter your search terms and then use the options on the left hand side of the screen to refine your results. You can use the advanced search options if you wish to combine specific search terms.
Material on Latin America will be shelved in a number of places depending on the subject matter.
Latin American history material is shelved at F1400 and there is a small Latin American law collection at KG1. Other materials are shelved at a varity of locations including economics at HC and administration at JQ.
For many of these countries the majority of material on these countries is in Spanish or Portuguese, and for some there is twice as much non-English material. You can filter your search on the Library catalogue by language.
The Library has several hundred pamphlets on Latin American countries. These are published by a cross section of political groups, research centres and campaigning organisations. The majority were acquired in the 1970s-1990s and there are a significant number published in Spanish or Portuguese. The best coverage is for Argentina, Mexico and Chile.
They all have catalogue records but are kept in closed access. They can be fetched on request.
