Finding books


Library Search| details both printed material and electronic books held by the Library. Enter your search terms and then use the options on the right hand side of the side of the screen to refine your results. You can use the advanced search options if you wish to combine specific search terms.

Material on India will be shelved in a number of places depending on the subject matter. Indian history material is shelved at DS and there is a small Indian law collection at KNS. Other materials are shelved at a varity of locations including economics at HC and administration at JQ.

The Library collection mirrors the main areas of research and interest for the School. The map on the right shows the states and union territories of India. The Library has both regional and countrywide information. 


The Library holds hundreds of pamphlets on India covering the time of British rule and independence. Some of the 19th century pamphlets will have links to the full text via JSTOR. The holdings are  summarized in a section of the British history pamphlets |guide on the Library web site.

The Library has continued to collect pamphlets on India, published by organizations such as OXFAM, the Bertrand Russell Foundation, Article 19 and the Human Rights Committee, as well as political parties in India. There are several hundred of these.

All these pamphlets are listed on Library Search|. They are shelved in closed access and are fetched on request.
