Journal articles and online resources

Journal articles

Summon| is a fast and intuitve library search system which enables you to search a wide range of LSE Library content, including journal articles, all in one place. Not all relevant resources for all topics are available via Summon and sometimes it is necessary to search individual databases.

If you are conducting research on a topic and do not have a reading list, we recommend starting with Summon| and searching individual electronic databases.

  • Do not assume a simple Google search will find all articles.
  • Our databases cover materials from a wide range of publishers so will provide more information than you could retrieve from a single publisher's ejournal site.
  • Some databases will link to the full text of article - look for the orange LSE Article Finder button  articlefinder ; others will give you bibliographic details only.
  • Databases can also include information on book reviews, book chapters, grey literature, government reports, theses and so on.

Management-related Journals

The Library subscribes to over a hundred management journals, including managerial economics, marketing and international business and trade. There are 20-30 titles in industrial relations, human resource management and industrial organisation.  There are also journals covering employment and equal opportunities law, and industrial law reports.

  • You can use the ejournals portal to find a particular title or browse the collection by title or subject.
  • Journal titles (both print and electronic) are indexed in the library catalogue using the same classmark as books on the same subject, however to find individual articles contained in them, use Summon, as described above.
  • A selection of titles in Management, Information Systems, Employment Relations and Managment Science can be found in the Key Management Journals Guide.  Please note however, it is not exhaustive and is a sample of the titles available to you.
  • The Library subscribes to many databases which index, and in most cases provide electronic access to, journal articles.  Look at the Specialist Resources page to learn about databases specifically related to management and business.
