Online resources

Environmental Impact| is a single comprehensive bibliographic information resource on climate change and other influences of humans on the biosphere.

The GreenFILE |database indexes journal articles, government documents and papers covering a wide range of subject areas relating to the interaction of human beings with the environment.

RUDI| is a virtual library which provides access to articles and resources relating to all aspects of urban design. This includes coverage of city architecture, good practise in urban design, architecture and the relationship between the built environment and social interaction. 

Geobase| provides references to articles from over 2,000 academic journals covering all areas of the geographical and ecological sciences. This includes materials relating to physical geography and the environment. Materials generally date from 1980 onwards. 

Data Library

The Library has an impressive collection of data and statistics sources.  Although some are only available to current LSE staff and students, the Datalibrary| contains a wide range of easily accessible datasets:

Microdata - Government surveys, longitudinal data and opinion polls

Aggregated Data - Socio economic indicators from organizations such as OECD, EUROSTAT, IMF, World Bank. Includes Census data

Financial Databases - Information on markets, companies, exchange rates

Geographic Information Resources, GIS - Covering EU admin boundaries and Ordnance Survey data

International Data Centres and Statistical Institutes - Government statistics online

OAIster |contains details of research being undertaken globally.

LSE Research Online| is a collection of research produced by LSE staff. It often contains content which is full text and freely available. This is constantly updated and displayed below are examples of some of the most recently added items.

Conference papers

ZETOC| - Index to conference papers 1992-present. No full-text, simply tells you where to find the paper concerned, such as in a book or journal.

ISI Proceedings on Web of Knowledge - science and technology, 1990-present.  

Theses 

  • EThOS - UK theses. Some will be freely available immediately, others can be ordered.
  • Index to theses - UK and Irish PhD theses. (Abstracts only).
  • Proquest dissertations and theses - USA and Canadian PhD theses. Mostly full text.
  • Library Search - for LSE theses - PhD and MPhil only are held here. Use the option to narrow down to 'Dissertations, Academic'
  • DART-Europe - for European research theses. Full text sometimes available.
  • Interlibrary loans: LSE members can request interlibrary loans by clicking on Interlending option in Library Search..
  • The  Library Search also includes listings for African, Australian, Canadian and Hong Kong theses databases.
