Bernard’s doctoral research project centres on a media archaeological study of the techniques employed in the interception of communication in the UK, from the instituting of the Post Office to the cable tapping practices detailed in the Snowden archive. This in turn frames a study of the successive legal procedures used in directing and legitimating interception.
