Student experience

My LSE experience is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. In terms of student experience, the LLM programme is one of the best, if not the best, in the world. Being in a classroom with students from all over the world with varying work experience expands one’s perspective beyond legal texts and local or regional experience. The Professors are at the top of their fields and are able to guide the class towards a meaningful discussion on any topic, including dissecting alternative ideas and ultimately leading to an engaging experience in line with the school’s mission to know the causes of things. As one of the most competitive programmes at LSE with student admission from all over the world, the LSE LLM network will prove to be an excellent source of business opportunities, lifelong friendships, and scholarly exchanges.

The LSE LLM programme has helped me to become a better lawyer and person. It broadened my horizons and laid the path to a global career. The intense course work, stimulating seminars, and informal discussions with Professors and fellow course mates opened my mind to new perspectives and thought processes, forcing me to think critically, extensively, as well as inclusively.  As an international student, the change in culture was daunting but help was always at hand. The amazing staff in the Law Department and at LSE Life were always there to support and guide, making the journey smooth and less stressful. The year flew by and has left fond memories and great friends in its wake.

The MSc in Law & Accounting has given me the opportunity to learn about other disciplines like finance and management, providing me with a challenging perspective that as a lawyer is rather uncommon to have. Sharing spaces with students, Professors and staff in different departments at LSE helped me build a strong sense of community and a warm network that was the beating heart of my year in London.

Completing the LLM at LSE was the best decision I could have made. Not only did I enjoy the numerous hidden gems the Law Department offered, notably the retreat at Cumberland Lodge, but the people I met made the LLM experience in London more memorable. Because we were one big family all year long, I now have lifelong friends across the globe.

The LSE MSc in Law & Accounting was the perfect way to understand how these two disciplines fit and work together in today’s corporate world. As a qualified accountant after taking the LSE MSc in Law & Accounting I can now meet our corporate Legal Advisors and finally be able to understand and challenge their recommendations. My time at the LSE has been one of my best life experiences. I have learnt so much from my colleagues on the MSc programme and through the world class teaching, and all with the support of the wonderful service delivery team.

LSE is an inclusive, multicultural and respectful environment that gives its students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge, optimise their inner potential, and develop new skills. Being part of the LSE LLM 2018/19 cohort was a once in a lifetime experience. During this period, I expanded my knowledge to legal areas that I had never previously heard of, discovered new paths for my future career, and was engaged in the most up-to-date intellectual debates. The LLM has a flexible and diverse syllabus that gives students the opportunity both to specialise and explore new areas of Law. On top of this it was the people I met from all over the globe that made this journey truly unforgettable.

The Law Department at LSE was not only supportive and encouraging, but also dynamic in the opportunities it provided for personal growth. I've had numerous opportunities to interact and network with professionals working in London. With the IT/IP Law courses I took, the Professors arranged additional sessions where external speakers came in to talk about the upcoming issues within the field. It was a great way to consolidate what we had learnt in seminars. LSE Law is unique, not just because of the lovely people you'll meet but the wealth of opportunities it presents. Choosing to do my LLM at LSE has been one of, if not the best, decisions I've made in my life.
