Maiana Bidegain, a film maker of Uruguayan origin but based in Australia, presents 'Secretos de Lucha' (2006). Maiana investigates the hidden memory of her family during the dark period of the Uruguayan military dictatorship. From the Basque Country to Latin America, Maiana B. tries to come to terms with her father's confessions and those of her seven uncles and aunts, trying to understand the reasons behind their silence. In her journey, she reconstructs her family's fight against oppression, both legally and clandestinely. She also traces the scars left by torture and exile. The film is an intimate and brave look from the director, who gives voice to a series of witnesses and protagonists in their fight against oblivion.
After the film there will be a question and answer session with Maiana Bidegain.
