Censorship and Literature

This exhibition was held in the LSE Library foyer from 29 September to 29 October 2008.

The year 1968 marks the fortieth anniversary of the year when the Lord Chamberlain relinquished his power to censor all new plays before they could be put on stage in the UK. This watershed moment in the history of relations between the state and literature in Britain forms part of a global survey of censorship in Banned!

The exhibition, researched by Dr. Olga Sobolev and Dr. Angus Wrenn from the LSE Language Centre.
