The LSE Language Centre has been successfully awarded a Learning Technology and Innovation Grant| on the project in academic year 2014/2015, named From e-marking to e- feedback: training, applying and evaluating.
The aim of the project is to:
-
Raise awareness of possible new ways to marking via technology
-
Explore the impact of technology on marking and receiving feedback
-
Develop an e-marking strategy on behalf of the department
The project involves exploring and comparing three distinctive e-marking and e-feedback methods as a result of the three marking tools:
-
Moodle
-
i-Pad marking
-
video/screen capture marking via software
In order to achieve the proposed outcomes, the project will run through three phases. The first phase of the project focuses on showing e-marking tools to everyone who’s interested. Workshops will run in week 9, 10 and 11 MT. All the demonstration and training materials are available via Moodle site LN_eMarking|. Those who attend the workshop will have the opportunity to participate in the second phase of the project by being offered the tools to experiment for a period of time and to apply them in the actual marking process. The participants are asked to write a reflective diary on their experiences and learning process. The final phase of the project involves gathering evaluation from the students on the e-feedback them receive via the three proposed tools. of the project by being offered the tools to experiment for a period of time and to apply them in the actual marking process. The project will involve a number of colleagues across different languages. It will conclude with some practical recommendations and good practice. Students’ perception will be also examined. We hope to derive e-marking strategies based on the project at a departmental level.
