Russian Intensive Language Courses, University of Tallinn

The University of Tallinn offers intensive Russian language courses in January each year.

These courses are suitable for students of Russian at all the levels, including complete beginners and they are ideal for students of social and political science interested in studies relating to the countries of the former Soviet Union, since it offers one of the best possibilities to compare two former Soviet countries as well as learn Russian. They are also perfect for anyone, who is interested in Russian language and culture, and appreciates the combination of high teaching standards with a fascinating cultural emersion.

During these courses you will be able to improve significantly your linguistic skills and acquire a real taste of Russian society:

  • Estonia is on the threshold of the Russian Federation and the University of Tallinn takes advantage of this proximity. Estonia’s historical connection provides students with one of the best opportunities to learn Russian in the region.
  • Tallinn is a 50% Russian-speaking city (almost one third of Estonia's population are native Russians; the majority of Russians live in the northern part of the country, where Tallinn is situated).

This is a new development between the LSE Language Centre and the University of Tallinn.

This is a new development between the LSE Language Centre and the University of Tallinn and we should be able to offer a bursary to undergraduate students taking our degree courses who wish to travel to the University of Tallinn to cover the tuition fee in full/major part (this is dependent on the number of participants each year).

Accommodation can be booked through the University of Tallinn.

Students who need additional financial assistance can also apply to the Fred Halliday Language Award.

If you are interested in the programme this year, 4-10 January, 2016 please e-mail Dr Olga Sobolev, Language Co-ordinator (Russian) o.sobolev@lse.ac.uk  before 18 November 2015.
